RAD Studio 10.2 Release Announcement

On March 22, 2017, Embarcadero Technologies – a division of IDERA – announced the release of RAD Studio 10.2. The release was originally planned for Fall 2016, but had to be postponed.

Key Features and Enhancements in RAD Studio 10.2

• Multi-Instance Support for RAD Server and, for the first time, Linux Support.

• MariaDB, the popular MySQL fork frequently used for Linux, is now officially supported by the powerful FireDAC data access library.

• The TFDMemTable component has been enhanced to allow editing of tables at design time.

FireMonkey Enhancements

Cross-platform development of user interfaces with FireMonkey has been simplified through improved graphics management, which now includes multi-threading support. Additionally, new styles for Android and macOS interfaces have been integrated.

Note: FireMonkey and other GUI support are not available for Linux development.

Other GUI Toolkit Improvements include:

• Changing the SystemStatusBar color on iOS with new TForm properties.

• Multi-threading support for TCanvas, TContext3D, and TBitmap.

• Faster Android UIs with enhanced thread support.

• Improved user interaction management for TMultiView.

IDE Improvements

RAD Studio 10.2 includes a redesigned View menu for faster navigation. For example:

• Project files can now be displayed via a new context menu in the "Source Code Editor" and "Project Manager" tabs.

• Improved support for opening and designing forms at different resolutions.

VCL (Visual Component Library) Enhancements

The VCL in RAD Studio 10.2 offers improved high-resolution monitor support. Notable improvements include:

• The ability to open forms with the correct scaling factor, even when multiple monitors with different resolutions are connected.

• Anchored controls are no longer shifted when the form is moved between monitors with different resolutions.
